Community News - Italy
SharePassporto? It's almost time to head to the birthplace of the mafia. You'll start in Rome and move on to other regions of Italy where you'll conquer new jobs and leave a trail of destruction behind you. You'll earn new loot to gain power and Lira, the currency used by the mafia in Italy, when you do jobs in Italy.
Certain jobs in each region will unlock a new property for your Italian seaside village. There are six Italy properties: Villa, Winery, Fishery, Auto Boutique, Stadium, and Port. You'll be able to collect Lira for your properties. The Port functions much like the Chop Shop or Weapons Depot in New York. However, you'll be able to purchase weapons, armor, vehicles, and animals in your Port with Lira.
Also, you can request more fans to fill up your Italian football stadium by posting Facebook feeds to friends. After all, you'll need fans to yell Gooooooooal and toot their vuvuzuelas when your team scores.
Italy is coming. Veni. Vidi. Vici.

Italy Beta Now!
Share
Mafia Wars introduces Italy, a brand new destination that is full of challenges. A game containing the word mafia would not be complete without a homage to the country where it all began. Italy is in the Beta test phase and will be available to all accounts that have reached Level 5 or higher on October 23rd. There are no other requirements to gain access to Italy. The overall layout and functionality is very similar to Las Vegas but there are a few key differences.
1. Regions
Italy is divided into Regions and they function like the Districts of Las Vegas. Only the first 5 Regions will be available and Regions 6-8 will be released at a later date. Regions will contain Energy, Fighting, and Social paths.
Regions 6-8 will be released at a later time.
2. Currency
The currency used in Italy is called Lira. There will be no Vault like in Las Vegas and the banking system will be like all the other destinations to include the money laundering fee. The Italian Satchel of Lira will be available and will function in the same manner as the Envelope of Thai Baht and the Vegas Rack of Chips.
3. Jobs
Regions have 2-3 Paths (Energy, Fighting, and Social paths). All jobs in each Path will have 4 tiers of mastery (Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Ruby). Mastering all Paths of a Region is no longer required to complete a tier. When you defeat the Region Boss, you automatically advance to the next level of mastery. You will be able to request help for Social Jobs every 8 hours. All jobs require a variety of equipment which can be purchased with Lira from the inventory pages.

Stay tuned as we'll have more information coming tomorrow!

FACTOIDS
Factoid: Italy 'Regions' are like Vegas 'Districts'. There are also the same 4 tiers of Mastery (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Ruby). Each Region will have 2-3 paths (Energy, Fight, Social).
Factoid: You will no long need to master all paths to finish a tier. Beating a boss will automatically advance you to a fully unmastered map on the next tier.
Factoid: Italian Boss fights are designed similarly to the Beat the Feds event. In theory, a really strong player could beat a Boss all by herself, but very few players will be able to do that. The Boss fights were purposely designed to encourage cooperation with your mafia to take down the Boss(es) together. You cannot use two Boss Fight consumables in a row (Health Kit, Shiv, Grenade, Stun Gun) Boss Fights will be timed and the boss will not heal until that timer expires, at which point, he will heal to full strength. Each Boss has a different timer.
Factoid: You can request help on a Social Job every 8 hours
Factoid: Some job consumables will be harder to obtain and may require doing multiple jobs (like New York City required Concealable Camera Loot as a consumable requirement for the job that produced Blackmail Photos) You will need Cooked Books (from Milano) to do the job (in Napoli) that produces Hidden Charges.
Factoid: Like Vegas Properties, each level will require more parts. There are ten levels, depicted with Roman numerals (I-X)
Factoid: Port is similar to Chop Shop, but instead of Car Parts, it will cost Lira to craft items.
Factoid: Italy does not have a buildable vault like Vegas. However, it is Italy, and there will be a laundering fee again for the bank.
Factoid: Like Bangkok and Vegas, Energy and Stamina requirements for jobs will vary depending on a player's level.
Factoid: There are no tournaments in Italy.
FAQ
Q: What level do I have to be to get into Italy?
A: Level 5
Q: Are there any loot requirements for entry into Italy?
A: No, there isn't. However, Italian Satchel of Lira will be available, just like Envelope of Thai Baht and Vegas Rack of Chips, as a form of currency.
Q: How many Regions are there?
A: Five, initially. Regions 6-8 will be released this winter.
Q: How do I get access to Italy Beta? When will be Italy be released for everyone?
A: In order to improve the stability of the release, a only a small percentage of players will have access to Italy Beta on October 18th (evening, San Francisco time). Beta is scheduled to go live on Beta on the evening of October 18th, pending the results of internal testing.
For players without access, Italy will be fully released on October 21st (evening, San Francisco time) Beta is scheduled to go live on full release on the evening of October 21st, pending the results of internal testing and stability of the Beta performance.
Q: When will robbing be available?
A: Three days after full release, to give people some time to build up their properties.
Q: How do Italy Boss Fights work? (Question added 10/14)
A: Italy Boss fights work a bit differently than Vegas Boss fights. When you start a Boss fight in Italy, a timer starts for that fight. The Boss will not heal until that timer expires, at which point he will completely heal. Until then, you can come back into the fight as many times as you want. Your friends will also be able to help you attack the Boss. Unlike Vegas, you will not be able to use two Boss fight consumables in a row (health kit/shiv/grenade/stun gun). Remember, once you beat the boss, the tier will be completely mastered, so if you still have jobs you want to do for the skill point, master those jobs first.
Q: Will Italy collection items be revaultable? (Question added 10/14)
A: Like Vegas collection items, Italy collection items can only be vaulted once. When we stopped the revaulting feature, we noticed there was a substantial increase in the gifting of extra items, which is the intent.
Q: I think I found a bug, what do I do? (Question added 10/18)
A: Our apologies. We try to release our features with as few problems as possible, but sometime unforeseen errors occur and this is much more likely to happen to during the Beta period. If you encounter a bug, please provide our customer support agents with as much information as you can accurately recall about the steps/actions you were in the middle of that led up to error. Our customer support agents cannot change the game/account coding, but they will eagerly pass on the error information to our quality control team to fix.
