Clive Downie becomes Chief Operating Officer in Mobile and Entertainment Industry (Zynga)

Share
Second EA ex employee is coming to Zynga.
After Don Mattrick and Clive Downie will be part of Zynga's team.
Good or bad move, we will see.
This will be very evil but I will say it:

It is well know at my place that when somebody is appointed for the high position, very soon after that we will get: from the new small chiefs up to new cleaners (read: friends, cousins, sons or daughters, friends of friends.....).
But that is only at my place....not in Zynga....I think...I hope!

Here it is!
Clive Downie is appointed as Chief Operating Officer

And let us see what Marc Pincus says to Zynga Community:

CEO Update

by  on June 3, 2013
Our Founder and CEO Mark Pincus today sent a note to employees outlining structural changes Zynga implemented today and provided some detail on cost-reductions that are taking place company-wide. Please find his note, posted in its entirety, below.
***********************************************
To our Zynga Community,
Today is a hard day for Zynga and an emotional one for every employee of our company.  We are saying painful goodbyes to about 18% of our Zynga brothers and sisters.  The impact of these layoffs will be felt across every group in the company.
None of us ever expected to face a day like today, especially when so much of our culture has been about growth. But I think we all know this is necessary to move forward. The scale that served us so well in building and delivering the leading social gaming service on the Web is now making it hard to successfully lead across mobile and multiplatform, which is where social games are going to be played.
These moves, while hard to face today, represent a proactive commitment to our mission of connecting the world through games.  Mobile and touch screens are revolutionizing gaming.  Our opportunity is to make mobile gaming truly social by offering people new, fun ways to meet, play and connect.  By reducing our cost structure today we will offer our teams the runway they need to take risks and develop these breakthrough new social experiences.
Because we’re making these moves proactively and from a position of financial strength, we can take care of laid off employees.  We’re offering generous severance packages that reflect our appreciation for all of their work and we hope this will provide a foundation as they pursue their next professional steps.
Although these are hard decisions, I’m confident that our strategy of building leading franchises and supporting them with the largest network is the right one for the long term. I’m encouraged by our recent progress.  Running With Friends is a great example of the quality player experience we can deliver, already receiving an average 4.5 app star rating from 22,700 players in less than one month after launching. Our FarmVille franchise teams continue to innovate and deliver ground breaking new social experiences like County Fair which, despite only being available on the web, is engaging 39 million monthly players.
I want to thank every one of you for the spirit, creativity and energy that you’ve invested in Zynga.  You’ve reintroduced a generation of people to gaming and through these games offered them new ways to connect with their families, make new friends and even sometimes find love.
Everyone will be affected by these changes and I’m sure there will be many follow up questions to this email.  If you have specific questions relating to your project or team, please talk to your manager.  For any other feedback or thoughts feel free to email me directly.

Facebook AppData - Zynga firstplaced/Mafia Wars ouch, Mafia Wars, Zynga

Share

Facebook AppData - updated on Monday, November 5, 2012

Zynga is first placed on Developer Leaderboard

On App Leaderboard  - first placed is FarmVille2, Texas Holdem Poker 4th, Bubble Safari 7th, ChefVille 8th, Zynga Slingo 15th.
I tried to find Mafia Wars, but that was mission impossible.
So I used search option.

and here it is: Mafia Wars ranked 200. by DAU

Mafia Wars ranked 284. by MAU

This hurts!
When I've used Compare Applications option Mafia Wars is on the first place - but just because she stands the worst.

This is reality of this game. With lot of problems, no communications with players, no support....
That is sad, but  I still LOVE THIS GAME.

Zynga's lousy compensations for rollback accounts

Share

???? Zynga
Zynga made great move.
Players have lost items, RPs, levels, XPs, during rollback accounts and all they got back is compensation in ridiculous amount of Reward Points.
Not a word from Zynga's Customer Support, except popup in the game for players that got this compensation.
And those Players are NOT HAPPY.
Our Fun Page is full of complaints, questions, asks for help.
So sad, and unprofessional Zynga.

Be Very Skeptical About Suggestions Facebook Will Buy Zynga

Share

Now that Zynga's stock has cratered, there are reports thatFacebook could buy Zynga.
Could Facebook buy Zynga? Of course it could buy Zynga. And with its pile of cash Apple couldbuy Facebook.
Just because something could happen doesn't mean it will.
And yet, Zynga's stock got a tiny jolt this morning when NBC picked up on a Seeking Alpha report that Facebook could buy Zynga. (Welcome to public markets, guys! Fun times.)
Given Zynga's very close relationship with Facebook a rumor like this might make sense to outsiders. But you should be extremely skeptical.
Mark Pincus RegularFirst off, the whole acquisition talk is centered on a conspiracy theory that Facebook is no longer featuring Zynga's games to drive its stock price down. Zynga confirmed that Facebook changed its algorithm to feature newer games on its earnings call, and this has actually not hurt Zynga much, for two reasons:
  • The decline of Zynga's web games wasn't a result of the algorithm change. That happened late in Q2, and Zynga's web games were already declining well before that.
  • The change in Facebook's algorithm favors newer games, which also includes Zynga's new games. The Ville, for example, received a 4.5 million install bump once Zynga turned on cross-promotion.
Second of all, it just doesn't make sense for Facebook to spend money buying a company that makes Facebook games, because it already gets money from every gaming company on the platform. Facebook charges a 30 percent fee for every transaction, whether it's on a Zynga game or any other company.
Buying a big company like Zynga would be a huge risk. If Facebook were to buy Zynga and a new gaming company like Kixeye suddenly shot to the top of the charts, Facebook would be caught flat-footed.
Facebook would benefit the most by doing what it has always done — working with whichever companies are popular at the time — given the short shelf life of Facebook games.
We've also already made the case that Facebook games are already declining in favor of mobile games, with newer Facebook games not reaching the same peaks they used to catapult to after launch.
Zynga is in the process of evolving into a mobile gaming company, with nearly half its users coming from mobile games. If Facebook were to buy Zynga, it would receive 100 percent of the income from in-game purchases in mobile games, but already mobile games do not monetize as well as Facebook games.
Zynga is also getting ready for its third act: real-money gambling games. We have made the case that real-money gambling games are at least a billion-dollar opportunity for Zynga, which would at least double the value of the company.
Pincus confirmed that Zynga's first "real-money gaming" products in international markets in the first half of 2013 — referring to that same real-money gambling opportunity.
Right now, buying Zynga represents too much of a risk, even if the company's stock is floating around a cheap $3. And it would be a disservice to Zynga for Pincus to sell, because there is a huge potential upside for Zynga if real-money gambling games work out.

New Event?

Share
In Zynga Community Forums  I found this :
http://forums.zynga.com/showthread.php?p=8033060#post8033060

A New Event is coming (maybe), No details yet, Just these 4 Items showing up on the Zynga Servers!

There are no Bronze, Silver & Gold images online so im guess not a gifting event!
Being that there are only 4 items and they have no higher classes, that rules out All gifting events, all boss fight events, Wall post events are just 1 item not 4, so that doesn't leave a lot of options left open for us! Being that there is only 4 items and if its for a event it HAS to be a Limited time Job!

What Events you would like to see MORE of, and LESS of?

Suggested names so far: "Bribe The Zynga CEO (to stop the Spamming Events)" And
"Steal the Code of a competitor"

Zynga & Best Buy offering $100,000 in prizes in Game Card redemption contest

Share

If you are the kind that doesn't have a problem spending real money on your Facebook games, Zynga has partnered with electronics retailer Best Buy to offer over $100,000 in prizes in a new contest for users that redeem Zynga Game Cards purchased at Best Buy over the next month.

To be clear, this is a contest - just because you redeem a Game Card that you purchased at Best Buy, that doesn't guarantee you a prize. However, for a handful of lucky players, there are some massive (and might I say extremely awesome) prizes at stake. Here's a look at what's being given away:

$5,000 Reward Zone Certificates (Best Buy's proprietary rewards program)
Two Computer Packages
(each valued at $2500)
One Home Theater Package
(valued at $1500)
Ten Apple iPads
Ten Xbox 360 gaming consoles
$500, $200, $100, and $50 Reward Zone Certificates

See? I told you there were a bunch of great prizes up for grabs. All you'll need to do to enter is purchase a Game Card corresponding to particular Zynga games - FarmVille, Cafe World, Mafia Wars, YoVille, FrontierVille or Treasure Isle - and redeem that card on Facebook for the appropriate premium currency. Each time you redeem a card, you'll receive an entry into the contest, which will end at the end of January. For those that want a free entry, you can also enter by mail (see here for how to do so). Again, there is no limit for how many entries you can receive - every purchased Game Card will result in one entry for one particular Facebook ID (that is, whoever redeems the Card gets the entry, and that's it).

Good luck to all those that enter!

Which of these prizes would you most like to win from Best Buy and Zynga? Will you purchase a Game Card just to enter the contest? Let us know in the comments!

New Homepage Format 411 and FAQ

Share
Manage My Empire
The new Mafia Wars home page layout has arrived and will gradually roll out to all players.  The home page is now organized into various sections and the Player Updates section has been moved to the [My Mafia] page.
The Feature Event section is located at the top of the page and will be a rotating promotional space dedicated to current events (for example - Gifting events or Boss Fight events)  This section will also contain Your Mafia Activity which features 1 fight/rob update and 3 request updates from your player update stream.  You can go to a larger list of player updates by clicking on the link 'Show all updates >'

The Game Progress section is located on the left ands will show your Energy pack status and the last job you did with an option to take you to that job.  You can also see your completion percentages for your three most recent cities.

The Build Your Empire section contains everything you need to stay on top of your Chop Shop, Weapons Depot, Armory and the brand new Private Zoo.  This section will let you build items and upgrade these properties straight from the homepage!  In addition, there's a limited time item you will be able to build by receiving special items from your mafia.

Q: Why the redesign?
A: This is meant to streamline some of the functions of your day-to-day game play and make certain aspects of the game more visible and accessible.
Q: Where's the Daily Take?
A: When this is available to redeem, it is located in the Featured Event section on the Your Mafia Activity.
Q: Where's the Daily Checklist?
A: The Daily Checklist reward is being removed.
Q: What's the Patriot?
A: It is a limited edition vehicle that can be built from the Chop Shop with 25 Engines.
Q: I don't have the new Homepage yet, when will I get it?
A: We are gradually rolling this out to ensure stability of the feature.  All players will eventually get it soon, but we can't promise a specific date or time.  Customer Support Agents cannot enable the new Homepage for you.
Q: If I don't have the new Homepage, can I still built the Patriot / collect Engines / see how many Engines I have?
A: Yes.  If you go to your Chop Shop, the Patriot is located there and you can see how many Engines you currently have.
Q: I don't want the new Homepage.
A: Unfortunately, going back to the old version is not an option.
Q: Why isn't the Port from Italy available to upgrade / build from on the new Homepage?
A: At the moment, only the 4 New York building properties are available.  Other building properties in other cities are being considered for a later phase of the redesign.

Buy a War Wagon to help annihilate Huntington’s Disease

Share

Item_wagon_400 Starting Friday at 12:01 AM PST, Mafia Wars will team up with the Huntington's Disease Society of America (HDSA) to raise funds to support research for the neurological disorder. We will run a one-week campaign to purchase a limited edition War Wagon (77 attack, 43 defense) for 35 Reward Points through Oct. 21.
One hundred percent of net proceeds will go towards the HDSA's Coalition for a Cure, a research program made of scientists from around the world who have made key discoveries surrounding Huntington’s Disease and who are developing therapy treatments. The neurological disorder, which leads to a loss of muscle coordination and dementia, affects 1 in every 10,000 people and strikes both men and women equally.
Mafia Wars teamed up with the HDSA six months ago. We ran a five-day campaign in which more than 24,000 users raised over $100,000 by purchasing an exploding teddy bear. Currently there is no cure for the debilitating disease. Help support research to find a cure with a purchase of the War Wagon. Visit the Marketplace!

Social Missions Coming soon

Share
We are currently testing out a new feature: Missions. We are slowly ramping it up so everyone will soon be able to start their own mission. You soon will be able to find missions by completing jobs.

 Hey Mafia Fans,

Starting Tonight, Social Missions will be active in Mafia Wars. The ability to initiate Social Missions will be out for a percentage of Users at first, but all will be able to help in any of the assigned roles until it is rolled out for everyone. Also, even those unable to initiate Social Missions will also see the new "Missions" Tab. No need to worry, all is well.

To help aid you, and your Mafia in these Social Missions, please check out the following Questions and Answers:

Q: How do Social Missions trigger?
A: These can randomly trigger while doing regular jobs

Q: How do Social Missions work?
A: There are two roles - Initiator and Helper.
1) Once a Social Mission triggers, as an Initiator, you can post a feed requesting help, or send specific requests for help from your Mafia. Only your Mafia can help.
2) There are various Helper positions that need to be filled, and each may have different requirements that are geared for different types of players.
3) A Social Mission timer will start. Your mission must be finished within this time to collect its reward.
4) In order to complete your mission, each of the Helpers must complete their assigned job.
-Helpers will receive a combination of experience points, cash, or Loyalty points for completing a job.
5) If you have a slower than desired Helper, you can remove them to have another Mafia member fill that slot.
6) Once all jobs are complete, the Initiator has to 'finish' the mission for it to be a success.
-Initiators will receive a combination of experience points, cash, or special loot for a successful mission.
-Helpers will receive a combination of loot, consumables, or loyalty points for a successful mission.
-These rewards must be collected promptly, or they will expire.

Q: How many Social Missions can I initiate?
A: Up to 10

Q: How many Social Missions can I help in?
A: Up to 10

Q: Can I help an Initiator on more than one of his/her Social Missions?
A: Yes

Q: What happens if the timer expires before the Social Mission is complete?
A: Nobody gets the reward for an incomplete mission. Everybody has to do their required role. All Helpers must complete their jobs. Then, the Initiator has to finish the mission.

New Missions will be added this week Also, other Social Content including Boss Fights, and other Events will be added in the future as well.

We hear you! Vegas will be later!

Share
Due to an overwhelming response to allow more time for people to make arrangements, we are post-poning our Mafia Wars: MADE Las Vegas convention until early 2011!

We’ll be making an announcement in the next week about the new dates and potentially new location.  The great part about this date change is it will allow for longer planning and actually lower the ticket pricing, a savings which will be reflected in our next ticket sales.
This is going to be one amazing event done up as only Mafia Wars can do it! In the mean time...

The secret has been revealed. Now when you rob rivals or collect from Properties, there's a good chance you'll pick up a Secret Drop, which gives you a boost. A Secret Drop holds many wonderful and amazing things like fight boosts to help you kick ass, boosts to collect twice as much money from your properties, and skill points. These Secret Drops can be shared with your friends and they can share them with you. Just be aware that you can only open a maximum of 3 cases per day.
Prized Pigs
Get ready to pig out because the Prized Pigs are coming. You all had a healthy appetite for Pigntas and Super Pigntas, but you'll want to save room for Prized Pigs. This will be a limited time event where you must collect and master Prized Pigs. Master all three Prized Pigs to become a true porker and earn the Oinker vehicle (100 Attack, 128 Defense). We know you're salivating over the Oinker because those stats are making us hungry, too.
